Chesapeake Crab Sunset
Photograph - Photograph
The quaint, historic, fishing villages of the Delmarva, Virginia, Marland and Delaware are fast disappearing. This peninsula town serves as an unloading spot on the Chesapeake for Virginia crabs and in the last census logged in with about 250 people. When we visited in April, it was cold and windy, no people about, no boats coming in, just strong winds and the waves that follow. I had to push my car door hard to open and then had to stand strong to get my camera equipment, but the reflections were well worth the trouble at sunset against a small closed eatery set up to shell your own crabs on the deck over the pier. It appears the deck used to be a lot larger, now just lone pilings reflected in the water below.
