Drawing - Charcoal On Strathmore
Pedal to the Metal copyright Ayasha Loya
ORIGINAL ART PIECE OWNED BY CHRIS SORENSON
Chris turned 90 on June 26th and invited me in on his Portraits of Chris Exhibition. This is the sketch I did to celebrate his historical 90th Birthday. I decided to to it Rembrandt style and in black and white charcoal to preserve the history of Chris. As well, I chose to name it "Pedal to the Metal because he pedals his bike around his gallery gathering metal objects to recycle by using them in his new metal sculptures. On this day, he had white wire hangers in his basket on the bike. Currently the original "Pedal to the Metal" is on display until the end of July 2015.
Chris Sorenson works primarily in metal, welding, and has public installments in many locations in the Fresno region. Years ago, he opened up his studio to other artists, sharing space and equipment. The gallery was an outgrowth of that and continues to evolve. Shows change monthly, new shows open on Art Hop night, the first Thursday of every month.
