Title
Cast Iron Welsh Love Spoon Two
Artist
Ken Powers
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
This old cast iron spoon is a companion painting to another I did a couple days previous. The two spoons had spent their lives together so it was impossible to only paint one without painting its buddy. It was tough for me to draw this due to the extremely poor fashion in which it was cast. I didn't know how perfect I wanted it to be or if I wanted the painting to reflect the poor casting. In the end, as in typical watercolor fashion, it defined itself. The piece is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper.
After several years, I finally learned that these spoons are *Welsh Love Spoons* so I changed the titles of the pieces. Artist Jean Haines noticed them and let me know their origins.

I like the tonalities in your paintings. Very lyrical and contemplative even with the diverse subject matte.
