Description
With one look at this collage you can view it as history unfolding before your eyes because that is exactly what it is.
What we have here are the two lighthouses at the joint expeditionary base of Little Creek-Fort Story,Virginia. The base is another impressive tale all together but let me leave that with saying it gives one a curios sense of awe.
The brick lighthouse is the original one. It was built in 1791 which makes it the first built and 4th oldest surviving lighthouse in the United States. It is inspiring to see it standing tall and strong at it's age.
The old lighthouse stayed operational for 139 years till it was put out of commission and was replaced in 1930. The center photo shows the old looking to the new at it's strategic position of the entrance to Chesapeake Bay at an extremely historic spot called "The First Landing".
As I opened with.... the history of this place can give goosebumps to anyone.
