Cape Cod Fire Box 300

This old, degraded firebox was discovered on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, New England. I believe it was while strolling along the cobblestone streets of Nantucket on a wonderful September day. It may still be functional and someone just oversprayed it with white paint, but I thought it looked very old.
Nantucket Island lies about 30 miles south of Cape Cod and is a popular tourist destination in the summer months. It was a whaling community originally and the cobblestone streets were created from ballast from those whaling ships. Many of the old, historic homes feature widow's walks where the whalers' their men to come home from the sea.
I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers. Please check out my Facebook page Doodleng Art by Sharon Eng for announcements and more information about my art.
