Cape Buffalo South Africa

Description
There is always a nervous energy in the air surrounding a herd of South African Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer caffer). They are always on alert and often walled-eyed, a signal to me to keep a wide berth of them. The Cape Buffalo is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa due to their nervous temperment, large horns and very heavy body, often charging humans. They are one species of buffalo that has never been domesticated because of that temperment. Because of this, they are not direct genetic ancestors to any of the domesticated cattle breeds. Because of their size and agressiveness their only predators are lions and very large crocodiles that catch them while crossing rivers.
