"Cape Arundel Inn, Kennebunkport, Maine" by Catherine Sherman.
Seacrest, the Main House of Cape Arundel Inn & Resort, overlooks the Atlantic Ocean on Ocean Avenue. It was built as a summer “cottage” in 1895 by a prominent Ohio family. The mansion’s view would soon include the home built on Walkers Point in 1902 by George Herbert Walker: grandfather of 41st U.S. President George H.W. Bush. President Bush and wife Barbara stayed in their summer house on Walker's Point, which remains in the family today.
The main house is now part of a resort of several buildings, which also includes a restaurant.
Grand mansions were built on Cape Arundel, earning a national Register of Historic Places status in 1984 as the Cape Arundel Summer Colony Historic District earned National Register of Historic Places status in 1984.
