Description

Point Pelee National Park in Leamington Ontario, Canada. This is a series of photos taken in September of 2015.
They are all part of the Gallery "MIGRATING MONARCHS"
I finally arrived at a time when the butterflies were migrating South. I had seen them in many numbers before, very early in the morning. As the sun came up, what you thought were leaves began the move a slow gentle movement, removing the dew from their wings, drying them slowly as the sun showed its head. What was once black became bright orange amongst the green leaves, now moving a little more. As the tips of each tree was hit by sunshine, activity began, the suns angle increasing until each tree was coated in light. At the top of the trees you could now see small exercises, as the winged insect began taking off and landing near by. The sun now higher in the sky and the orange winged Monarchs filled the air with fluttering, soon to start on their trip South. What a beautiful creation, the more you learn about the process they go through with purpose, it makes sense that they were masterfully created to be a sophisticated traveller with a destination.
Watching and being present for the monarch migration was such a blessing in so many ways. I had tried for a few years trying to get the right time for them to arrive and finally succeeded. The Numbers were only a few thousand, so I still have hopes of going again to capture more. My mother was with me on this day, it is a beautiful memory, we both have a love for photography and enjoyed such a awesome sight. This is part of a series of images from that day.
