Building Detail Saint Mary Of The Admiral Church Palermo Sicily Painterly
Photograph - Photography And Digital Art
The Church of Saint Mary of the Admiral in Palermo Sicily is characterized by a multiplicity of styles due to its centuries of existence. It was founded in 1143 as an Eastern Orthodox church with a charter in Green and Arabic. Certain elements of the original church, such as this exterior decoration, show the influence of Islamic architecture on the culture of Norman Sicily. Since 3 July 2015 it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale.
