Description
This beautiful buck, a White-tailed deer, was in a meadow field near by me where I can see the wild deer and other animals go through foraging for food. There is a wild tree oak forest that edges the area where they can go to hide but sometimes they walk through the open areas and I get to photograph them when I am out there with my long lens. I stay back quite aways so I don’t disturb them. He looked to the side as I was photographing him and you can see that one point of his antler had broken off at the top.
White Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are herbivores and the smallest of deer in North America. When running they can actually sprint up to 30 miles an hour and leap up to 10 feet in the air. These deer are usually found in brushy and wooded areas. It is estimated there are more than 3 million deer in Texas.
