This beautiful spectacle of colorful, large kites took place on a very cold February day in Clear Lake, Iowa. Entries in 2022 included an alien on a spaceship, several space suits, parrot, butterflies, eagles, panda, fish, penguin, horse, cats, dogs, pigs, and octopuses, just to name a few.
Color The Wind is an annual festival that displays many different sizes and styles of kites, using the frozen 3,600 acre lake where there are no obstacles like trees or power lines. This one-day event occurs no matter what the weather, as long as there is wind, which is a normal condition. Thousands of spectators brave the cold as they are drawn to this unique display presented by dozens of kiters from all over the United States, as well as England.
