This highland cow is well prepared for cold and miserable weather. This day was not particularly cold, but it was certainly dull. Not to worry, I've given this image the pop art treatment to give it a much brighter appearance. The Highland cow seen here is not grazing in the Scottish Highlands, but on a nature reserve in Borlange, Sweden. These lovable long-haired cattle originated in Scotland, but are equally suited to the cold climate of Sweden and there are many herds in the country. Borlange council, with the help of local businesses, brought 25 Highland cows back in 1994. There are now four times as many and they are grazing on several sites, keeping back the vegetation very efficiently and at the same time making a very welcome addition to the Swedish landscape.
