Boston Harbor Lighthouse Moonlight Scene
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Seascapes at night like the Boston lighthouse at moonlight are especially challenging to an artist. To be effective, the painting has to have a play on light and shadows, a method to make the water appear transparent and wet. The lack of light in the sky and water has to be offset by the limited brightness of the moon reflecting on the waves. There is also a limitation on the color palette. Therefore, to keep the artwork interesting, light has to be skillfully placed and there has to be a perfect balance of nuances within the color scheme. I believe that I achieved the right results in this painting and that it can be a charming addition to any home decor.
