Bodie Island Lighthouse at sunrise on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. OBX as the Outer Banks are frequently called is an amazing place to visit, from the Cape Hatteras National Seashore to Jockeys Ridge State Park there is natural beauty everywhere you look. My friend Mark VanDyke referred to the Bodie Island Lighthouse as the gatekeeper of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and I think it's a fitting designation for this landmark of North Carolina.

I love this! It's so peaceful and reminds me of the last real trip I took with my grandmother before she passed away from cancer. We went the entire OBX and stopped here. The gentleman that was there was such a sweet old man and told us all about the light house and history.
