Description

The beach of San Vito, with a view on the imposing Benedictine abbey dedicated to the patron saint, offers an appealing view, not far away from Polignano a Mare.

The beach area of San Vito, a romantic natural port a few kilometres away from Polignano a Mare, boasts the Blue Flag and 4 Sails (a flag awarded to the most beautiful beaches) of Legambiente (Italian environment protection association).

The set is the Benedictine Abbey of San Vito, built in the 10th century and embellished with baroque decorations, which has been changed into a restaurant, and it has an external staircase connected to the loggia overlooking the sea.

The public beach is partly sandy and partly covered with pebbles, while around it there are cliffs, where you can stop off and read a book or dive in the sea. The coloured fishermen’s boats, docked in the bay, gives a picturesque touch.

Walking in the surrounding area, you can discover the Saracen tower and the fish farm for the cultivation of eels.
