Description
Not that I go to brunches that often...but when I do I always look for a good Bloody Mary.
The spicy drink has been a staple of the late morning menus for many years. There are several versions to its origins, but I am inclined to believe the following.
In the early 1920's an American bartender, Ferdinand “Pete” Petiot, working at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, France started experimenting with new cocktails with vodka thanks to an influx of Russian immigrants leaving their country due to the revolution. It was at this same time that American “tomato juice cocktail” was hitting French grocery shelves. The first cocktail was said to be made with equal parts of tomato juice and vodka...and the rest is history :)
