A 10.5 mile stretch of this creek, including this spot, is a State of Indiana designated scenic waterway. The stretch runs from near Rainsville, Indiana to where Big Pine Creek meets the Wabash river near Attica, Indiana. Big Pine is popular with canoeists and kayakers in spring when water levels are high and is a premier whitewater creek during this time. It is also an outstanding smallmouth bass fishery. This section of Big Pine is in Warren County, Indiana.
