Description
The horses of Acadia are so beautiful. When I see them on the carriage roads towing their carriages with the visitors to the park, I always stop to gawk and admire their beauty. Riding in the elegant carriages with these magnificent horses takes a person back to the Rockefeller time when life had a slower pace. The drivers of the carriages are note-able historians and recite the history of Acadia National Park. I highly recommend spending some time with these magnificent horses at Wildwood Stables too. The Belgian horse or Belgian draft horse, also known as Belgian Heavy Horse, Brabançon, or Brabant, is a draft horse breed from the Brabant region of modern Belgium, where it is called the Cheval de trait belge or Flemish: Belgisch Trekpaard or Brabants Trekpaard or Brabander. It is one of the strongest of the heavy breeds. They are chestnut in color with flaxen manes, tales and forelocks. The Belgian Heavy Draft horse stands between 16.2 and 17 hands and weigh about 2000 pounds, so you definitely do not want their hoof standing on your foot! Ouch! They are very calm horses despite their size and are really very sweet and kind.
