"Bayside #1", Encaustic Wax miniature (original is 4"x4") painting by JAC. Inspired by the seashore of Cape Cod, It's a bit abstract. Encaustic wax is an ancient medium consisting of beeswax, tree sap (resin), and pigments. A heat source must be used to fuse the layers. I like to use a blow torch. Encaustic wax is so archival, paintings in this medium remain beautiful and vivid even after thousands of years (example: the Fayum Mummy paintings).
