Several years ago some friends and myself were on a trip to Harmony, Minnesota. We went to see all the sights of this small town in the southeastern part of the state. As the town is full of things to see and do we spent quite a bit of time down there. But what I wanted to tell you about specifically was this old house. In the very early morning you can barely make it out as it seems to almost fold itself into the background. There were old rose bushes or lilacs growing close to one side and many other shrubs had grown up along another side of it further enclosing this place. The house evidently had electricity going to it as evidenced by the cable showing near the foreground of the picture. I was noticing that windows on one side had been covered over with plastic to keep out the elements but there was no other signs of life around. In early spring the grass had already gotten long and the tall trees in the background had not sprouted leaves yet. The moss on the roof had been growing for some time so I wondered if rain had been getting into the structure. All of these things gave the house a forlorn, barren, spooky feel to it. As always I wondered who lived there, why did they leave, why wasn't this home kept up or maintained, So many questions came up that I just took the picture and went on to somewhere else. Perhaps the person who owned the place had done the same thing. Just up and left eventually not to return.
