Barnegat Lighthouse And The Lighthouse Keeper Statue
Photograph - Photographs
The historic Barnegat Lighthouse has a new keeper. A new 8-foot bronze statue earned recognition on National Lighthouse Day.
The statue sits to the west of the lighthouse tower and gives recognition to the services keepers provide.
The new statue honors "the dedication of lighthouse keepers to protecting vessels from dangerous coastlines and hazardous shoals, and providing safe entries to harbors around the globe," according to an event invitation from the Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse.
The sculpture was created by Brian Hanlon, who is well-known for his work around the world.
