Description
Just about now, these two guys have arrived at the muddy pool. In the next 10 minutes they will be all wet and muddy. Rolling around in the mud is more than just fun for elephants. Mud baths serve a critical purpose for elephants. Under the hot African sun, the heat can be deadly and with their few hair and sweat glands they have to find other ways to cool off. They have just found that other way to cool down.
What is more, for a brief time mud protects them from insect bites. In the future I plan to paint these two guys ten minutes from now in the muddy pool. Adventurous people love doing this too when they get a chance.
