And They're Off

And They're Off.
The horse race is a fascinating event to me. The race itself may only last a minute or two and is sure beauty to watch these powerful animals run. But just as fascinating to me is to see all of the work that goes into this short race.
The horses are exercised, bathed, and groomed daily.
As the race approaches the horses are led out to the paddock so all the betters can get a good look at the horse to get maybe a last look at the horse they are about to put their money on.
The horses are paraded around and excuse me if the terminology is wrong but they are brought in and walked around. They make a few trips around the paddock led by their trainer. Each pass around the gear is added to the horse. First the colors or mask, not sure what it's called, then the saddle, and finally with the jockey mounted they are led out to the track.
Inside, the final bets are being placed. Outside the horses are making their way to the starting gate. As soon as they are all loaded into the gate the bells sound and They're off, horse and jockey racing for position and for one lucky rider, the win.
