Description

Created entirely using non-traditional graphics art software (MS Visio 2003), this piece reflects the artist's appreciation for the ancient world's practice of associating events on earth with changes in the stars. While it has an almost Egyptian feel, its primary influence came from ancient Mayan culture. The influence of the Aztec Calendar is particularly evident. The subtle incorporation of advancements such as plumbing, turbines, and rocketry are also included as are mystical concepts such as the "third eye" and 3-sided geometry for other possibilities to consider. This was created as part of a limited series of pictures developed as a challenge to explore the graphical potential of a non-traditional graphics software. Visio 2003 has a notably reduced set of tools and capabilities compared to traditional graphics products such as Photoshop, GIMP, Inkscape, Etc. I am unable to add to that series at this point since the product is incapable of running on modern computing systems and I no longer possess the software or any legacy systems on which to run it.
