Description
An Appeal to Heaven by Sandra Clark
Description: A flag design from the Revolutionary War. Before the war, Great Britain would use the pine trees cut from the colonies to build ships. Great Britain made rules about the colonist harvesting these trees. It was not very popular here in America so there was a Pine Tree Riot, much like the Boston Tea Party. The Pine Tree riot occurred in1772 before the Boston Tea Party, which was in 1773. Pine trees went on to be a symbol of freedom. George Washington had someone design the flag and he put them on some of his ships during the War.
