Description
This pretty American Lady Butterfly decided to check out the Bachelor Button flowers in my garden. I didn’t think these flowers could offer much nectar but the butterfly stayed a bit on each flower.
American Lady butterflies are in the Nymphalidae family of butterflies and can be seen across most of the United States of America. They can reach up to 2 inches in size and are commonly seen all over the United States. They are sometimes called Painted Lady Butterflies.
Bachelors Buttons (Centaurea cyanus) are also called cornflowers. They are in the asteraceae family of flowers. These flowers are drought tolerant and usually bloom in the summer months. They originated in Europe in the corn fields.
