Allen's Hummingbird On Bottlebrush
Photograph - Digital Photo, Enhanced
A female "Allen's hummingbird" (Selasphorus sasin) pauses to rest briefly on the branch of a bottle brush plant in Mill Valley, California in its natural habitat along the central Pacific Coast during nesting season.
The background and bokeh are "as is" from the camera, as seen through the lens.
This is my very first time seeing a hummingbird take a break from its high-energy flying. When it first lit on a nearby branch, it flew off before I could get my camera ready. I yearned for it to come back. God knew the desire of my heart and sent it to the branch again, and I was able to take this photo. Truly, God is THE God of a second chance!
Laura Joyce Hunter who is a creative writer based in southern California saw this photo and wrote the following powerfully moving poetic expression from her heart:
"This is the artist's brush stroke of the Almighty. When having dinner with a couple of friends I dearly love and listening to them doubt whether the burning bush was there with Moses and wondering if it was a fiction tale, I had to point out:
Look at the sunset,
and realize Who paints it each night.
Look at the sunrise,
and think about it in that way also.
Who other can make
one blade of grass that grows,
one little animal, one human being,
that is our Wonderful, Marvelous G-d,
that's Who, and Who sent
His only begotten Son Yeshua
to reconcile us to Him that we may enjoy
communion and fellowship with Him
for eternity, for which we were created
as human beings.
How clear it is,
when looking at something like this
of such beauty
to see how He loves us
and how He wants us to be in delight
with all these presents
He has given us to enjoy
while we dwell on His planet, Earth.
how marvelous is our G-d!"
