Title
Alizarin Dahlia
Artist
Ken Powers
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
I decided to try experimenting with Alizarin Crimson for this particular dahlia in my floral series. I created some interest using some additional washes of Quinacridone Violet followed by a little Neutral Tint to create depth. The original watercolor painting is 10" x 14" in size and is painted with a combination of Daniel Smith and Rublev watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.

So beautiful, Ken. Your highlights and shading give such depth to the painting as well as life to each individual petal.
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Marsha! I am still working on the light, shadow, and shading work with watercolor. Fun stuff!
