Description
I took this dynamic photograph while on a trip up Highway 395 in summer of 2020. This amazing place has so many different textures and rugged beauty that I always have to make time to drive the 5 minutes off the main highway. Everywhere becomes photographic opportunity and a medicine for the soul.
The Alabama Hills are actually considered to be part of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. The area has been used as a backdrop for over 400 films since the early 1920's. Commercials are also filmed there on a regular basis. The 30,000 acres of land it sits on is covered with various rock formations that are a photographers paradise and a hikers play land. There is a bit of an eeriness to the landscape. Almost other worldly.
