A Mother's Life Restored
Artist
Angela L Walker
Medium
Painting - Acrylic, Watercolor, & Ink On Watercolor Paper
Description
The words of my niece helped provide the inspiration for this piece.
As many of you know, I am very close to my oldest niece, Cynthia L King... we're really only three years apart in age. It wasn't until we were both adult women that I realized how creative she is... at her core. Well, the first Mother's Day after my son was killed, I thought I'd lose my mind... and my desire to *create passionately*... I thought most of what was important was taken from me on March 4, 2009... but my beautiful niece gave me the following message on Mother's Day that year (she calls me Lou, which is short for my middle name Louise):
Dear Lou,
you teach.
You praise.
You encourage.
You BELIEVE.
You work.
You dream
and share those dreams with others.
You laugh
and spread joy with the HOPE
that sustains.
You live... out loud,
but most of all,
you LOVE.
My dear aunt and friend,
that's the best thing
any mother
any friend
any WOMAN
can do.
Happy Mother's Day to YOU!
This mixed media painting was made using my handmade angel stamp drawn and cut out from compressed sponge, watercolor, metallic inks, and acrylic on Canson heavyweight (140 lb.) paper.

Oh my goodness this radiates so much love and inspiration....your niece is certainly walking in your footsteps my dear. I am in tears.
Angela L Walker replied:
This is my piece in memory of Josh... Trying to keep smiling and think positive thoughts... it will be THREE years this March 4... I've been painting every day... clinging to hope and LOVE... but the news here is filled with one violent death after another and most of the victims are children or young people. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME! I think it's best I stop watching the news for the next two weeks... my niece is another spiritual anchor for me... God gives her messages to help me and I do appreciate her.... very much! Love and hugs to you, my dear friend... Thanks so much for all the love and support you give me! :)
