Description
The stark scene here was looking north along Route 24 in the Colorado Rockies, the year 1984. I admit that I did briefly exceed the speed limit while driving with hardly any traffic in either direction. When I slowed back down to 55 mph it felt like my car was at a near standstill, especially given the lack of visual references for determining the true speed in this expansive environment.

This has it all. The authentic look of the time it was taken. Great vintage contrast and color. For me, an open road like this, with a suggestion of 55 mph, is all I need. Wonderful image Kellice.

Kellice Swaggerty replied:
Thanks Barbie. Back in that day many years ago the speed limit was 55 nationwide. I would like to see what it is now at this location. :)

I like the speed-limit sign in this image. Adds something to what could have been a standard "road to the mountains" shot. l/v

Beautiful composition Kellice! I like the fact that this was shot in 1984, it's got a cool vibe to it. The little voice in my head keeps saying that 55 is not fast enough on this road ... haha. Fav/Like
Kellice Swaggerty replied:
Thanks Luke! Actually at one point I reached 85 mph on this stretch of road. I felt like I was hardly moving. When I slowed down back to 55, I felt like I had practically stopped.

A road, a sign, and snow-covered mountains...three of my favorite subjects all in one photo!! Very nice, Kellice! v
Kellice Swaggerty replied:
Thank you Sue! Of course here in New Jersey I can capture the road and sign, but I'm afraid our snow-covered mountains can not compete with the majesty of yours out west. :)
