Description
This is a reproduction of “Les Colones d’Hercule” of 1964 by Marcel Delmotte. This was created when he was sixty-three years old having studied at the University de Travail in Charleroi from 1914 when he was thirteen years old. Starting his professional career five years later, he was influenced by Caravaggio, Poussin and David. His later preoccupation with dream scapes appear to be influenced by the 1934 exhibition Minotaure in Brussels. He had major exhibitions in 1969 and 1976. He died in 1984 at Charleroi. This work is an oil on board painted in Charleroi. It measures 90 by 70 centimeters and is in a private collection.
