Protopriest Vladimir Semenoy was born on January 15, 1959 in Samara, Russia. The future priest was educated at the mathematical school and then at the Aviation Institute. But his very spirit lived in biology, ecology…He used every spare moment to learn native land, nature.
His passion of photography dates back to his school years. The schoolmates enjoyed his first ever photography exhibition at school which was followed later by the photography works exhibition at the Institute.
On July 1, 1992, during the celebration of Icon of Our Lady “Bogolubskaya”, Father Vladimir was ordained to priesthood at the Epiphany Church situated in Kurumoch village, Samara district. Since that time he has been serving at Saint Nicholas Church in Smyshlevka village, Volzhski region of Samara district.
Samara Eparchial Museum hosted the first major photography exhibition of Vladimir Semenoy in 2005. Later this exhibition was presented at Samara House of Actors and at some higher education institutions in Samara.
The permanent small exhibition of photography works of Father Vladimir can be visited at the narthex of Saint Nicholas Church in Smyshlevka village. The exposition has been constantly changing and new photographs keep on coming in. In October 2011 the second photography exhibition of Protopriest Vladimir Semenoy was successfully held at Samara Eparchial Museum.
– For me creativity means spreading joy and light among people, – says Protopriest Vladimir, – and therefore I am imbued with joy as well. I had three trips across Urals and once I traveled to the Caucasus, bringing back home a lot of photographs. But I was born here and I think that my primary duty is to show the beauty of Russian nature of Middle Volga region to people.
