My name is Maria Varga-Hansen, a.k.a. Vargamari.
I was born in Hungary, the last 20 years I was living in Vienna, Austria and I came here, into USA in March, 2009, married with John W. Hansen, a.k.a. Wiscojaydub, who is an excellent digital artist.
Only some words about my artistic concept:
I want to express myself, my love, my dreams, my life-experience through all of my works and showing something positive to the viewer...I think there is enough trouble and 'dark things' in everybody's life; the duty of an artist to lead the viewer away from all of them, giving some hope...but trying not to be too “sweet”! I try to keep my very strong, critical view towards my own works, too.
I use different mediums: watercolor, oil, pastel, pen and pencil and most of all: Encaustic that has become my favorite medium. I developed my skill in encaustic as fine as in oil.
Through my 22 years painting experience, I went through in all the different learning phases, always trying to develop my own style without joining any “isms”…
I realized that maybe I’ll never have a very special, personal style, because I paint a bit differently, leading by the medium and the theme, too, but in every way I try to show something warm, human and positive…
