Don Koester (1947-2021) was an avid illustrator and native to St.Louis, MO where he spent most of his life creating what could best be described as Outsider Art. He is well-known for his posters produced from thousands of original napkin illustrations created over the course of his lifetime. His multi-media pieces, which also include work on canvas and glass are brought to life through bold colors, dazzling geometric shapes and patterns, and cover a wide range of subjects.

Inspired and influenced by Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, and Peter Max, his collection pays homage to Abstract Expressionism, Cubism, and Pop Art and takes the viewer on a journey born from both reality and imagination.

Equally dedicated and prolific as a writer and storyteller, his art draws from his deep love of global culture, history, spirituality, and literature. The viewer is invited to escape into the often eccentric and always vibrant worlds and characters he has developed over several decades.

In his most recent additions to this vast collection, Don Koester began to introduce photography, capturing some of the most peaceful moments of his final years.
