Art and the Sea have always been my passions. I started painting at a very young age and much of my free time was spent exploring the coastal shores of the St. Lawrence river.
Trained as a graphic designer in Montreal, Canada I worked 8 yrs as designer, illustrator and creative director for Trudeau, a Canadian tableware manufacturer. I was considered a hallmark of the company and my signed and printed dinnerware designs were acclaimed and sold worldwide.
In 1998, I pursued a life long dream of living a tropical lifestyle and relocated to South Florida. Living in the yacht capital of the world, Fort Lauderdale eventually landed me in the yacht industry as freelance yacht chef. I have been applying my creative skills in the galley for the rich and famous for the past 20 years. During those years, one of my most memorable trips was a cross Atlantic voyage on a 150 foot expedition yacht from Florida to Genoa, Italy. Another was and cooking for Lady Rothschild on a beautiful 103 foot Wally sailboat in Greece. While I enjoy the creativity of cooking, travel and painting are what really float my boat.
Working on yachts have allowed me to explore the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Bahamas islands as well as New England. My extensive portfolio draws most of it's inspiration from countless travels at sea and island exploration. My scuba-diving adventures have also been a great source of inspiration for my marine life paintings. Tropical surroundings saturate my canvases with serene blues, watery reflections, pink sand beaches, above and below bountiful reef views, secret beach paths and graceful breezy palms.
I have been a self taught fine artist since 2008. My paintings are inspired from my travels and I paint between my freelance chef contracts which enable me to totally focus on painting weeks at a time. I also occasionally paint plein air.
My art style is representational and impressionistic with an incredible attention to detail. However,I also love to paint water reflections and expressionistic abstracts. My preferred mediums are oil and acrylic on canvas. I also love working with raw wood substrates, resin, Paris plaster...
Many of my paintings have been featured on Florida magazine covers (Jupiter, Tequesta, Hobe Sound, Fort Lauderdale Boat Show) as well in Dockwalk , Tempus and Florida Home Decor magazines. I participate in fine art shows in south Florida regularly.
My outmost respect for nature and the sea transpires throughout my paintings. They reflect tranquility, unspoiled coastal environments and love of everything coastal.
