Clara Brayton, RN, PHN, BSN (retired) is a roving resident (gypsy?) of planet earth. She has been interested in the creative arts since the young age of 5 when she began drawing desert scenes and spontaneous Mayan Indian Profiles. She has formally studied Raku Pottery techniques at Mendocino College, Ukiah, California; Stained & Leaded Glass techniques at Santa Rosa Glass, California, and Painting techniques under the accomplished artist, Susanne DeVerve, Sebastopol, California.

In 1995 she received a BS in Nursing with a focus on Public Health Nursing, and a Minor in Psychology from Dominican University, San Rafael, CA. She has worked professionally in the Home Health Care field since 1993. After moving to Northern California from the San Francisco Bay area.

Clara is proficient in a variety of mediums including Stained Glass, Digital Photography, Clay, Water Colors, Acrylics, Oils, Oil Pastels, Charcoal, Pen & Ink, Colored Pencil, Textile Soft Sculptures, Quilting and Stitchery. She has taught needlecrafts to people of all ages. She has experience in art restoration projects, preservation, archiving and cataloging art, music and book collections.

Other interests include voice, violin, home remodeling and building, gardening, Mycology, Herbal Medicine, Nature Walks with plant identification (Botany) and Bird Identification. She enjoys gathering wild herbs and plants to make medicinal tinctures and teas. She studied basic herbal medicine under Donna D'Terra at Willitis, CA and Jane Bothwell's Clinical Herbalism course at the Dandelion Herbal Center, Kneeland, CA both 10 month courses as well as taken three trips with Jane to Mexico.

Clara is a widow since 1989, has four children and twelve Grandchildren. She did live with a wonderfully pesky calico cat until her demise of old age at 16 years old.
