Welcome to the web home of Chris Allington Photography! If you've never come across my work before, I am a landscape, nature, and weather photographer based in Hartington, Nebraska. However, my love for documenting things with a camera started well before I moved to Northeast Nebraska in 2022. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska until a brief stint in college took me to the University of Nebraska. An early trip to Yellowstone National Park on a family vacation around the age of 12 would stoke the early fires of my passion for photography, which saw me using a 35mm film camera to shoot various geo-thermal features, wildlife, and landscapes in the park. I'm not sure my mother was excited about paying to develop the 10 rolls of film I burned through, however, after returning home I'd often use a point and shot camera to document stormy skies or cool sunsets and film video clips of my childhood friends and I skateboarding, or participating in other extreme sports and messing around outside.

In my junior year of highschool, I saved up some money and purchased my first digital SLR camera, a Canon Rebel XT. I photographed anything and everything from my early storm chasing endeavors, to people, to abstracts, to various urban scenes. to wildlife, to landscapes and I haven't put down a camera since. Since the early days of this adventure, I have continued to chase the sky... documenting a wide range of various severe weather phenomenon including tornadoes, lightning, and incredible storm structure. I've also taken a liking to the night sky, wildlife, and landscape photography. I've traveled to many National Parks and monuments, Canada, and Iceland as well as driving 1000s of miles to photograph storms, landscapes, and wildlife in the American West. I've recently taken to backpacking and camping and trying to take my photography to the backcountry, and get away from the rat race of daily life. I've even shot some senior portraits, engagement portraits, and family photos in recent years. My passion for photography continues to grow and take me in different directions and to new places!
