Washington Monument and Flag With Fountains was taken from The District of Columbia War Memorial commemorating citizens of the District of Columbia who served in World War I. This beautiful attraction is at 1750 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20024 and has been open since 1931. On Dec. 6, 1884, in Washington, D.C., workers placed a nine-inch aluminum pyramid atop a tower of white marble, completing the construction of the impressive monument to Washington seen in the background.
