Description
Taken in the late 80's this is what is called a bateau. The watermen of Maryland all had one, at one time or another, to handle all the light work that their larger boats could not manage. They all had a one lung engine that would run on virtually no gas and last for years. No speed here, just dependability. They bailed them out in the morning with a bent coffee can used to scoop up the rainwater and toss it over the side. Crabs and oysters were the target of most of these boats.
