On the hike up La Rocca (The Rock) in Cefalu Sicily, you get not only the stunning views not only of the beach, the town, and the coastline of the Tyrrhenian Sea (which is part of the Mediterranean Sea) to the west, but also views of the fortifications that were once an important part of protecting the town from pirates. Some of the walls can be seen on the right. The town of Cefalu on the northern coast of Sicily is known for its beach, its picturesque waterfront, its old town, its ancient cathedral, and the cannoli, but not necessarily for its hiking opportunities. Most visitors to Cefalu prefer to enjoy the view of La Rocca from a comfortable seat on the beach rather than the climb to the top. Nevertheless, it is a not-too-difficult and not-too-long hike to the top to obtain fantastic views.
