Our first view of the historic harbor of Castellammare del Golfo in Sicily, with its fleet of small working fishing and pleasure boats, was through this arched doorway. It is just what you expect to see in a small seaside town in Sicily. Colorful buildings, cobblestone quay, restaurants with a sea view. In this historic fishing port, tuna fishing was once an important industry but no longer. But you can still see fishermen mending their nets on board or selling the day's catch at rickety tables on the quayside. From the harbor you can also go on organized boat trips to see the explore the area from the sea. Castellammare del Golfo in located in the Trapani Province on the northwest coast of Sicily.
