V8 Tree Carving --by Doug Kreuger
This tree sculpture is dedicated to my neighbor of 25 years, Marty and Phyllis.
Marty and Phyllis are auto enthusiasts who show their classic cars at area "Cruise Nights".
I carved this iconic V8 emblem from a dead marshal ash tree that was killed by emerald ash borers in 2014. The "V" is 5' tall and 6' above the ground.
The "8"is carved from 2 log slices from the same tree, as are the 2 pistons. The Flames are carved from 2" thick slabs of red cedar. All pieces are painted and attached to the "V" using landscape adhesive and long deck screws.
All together this project took me approximately 2 months to complete.
