Oh this is very nice Yuri. My husband and I sat here and discussed how this one was maybe created and the flow of the leaves of the onion, and the wrinkles as the base, or, onion itself is being drained by the leaves and how the background looks like black sand..very lovely art piece you created with this photograph! l/f/P

Yuri Lev replied:

Georgia, I appreciate your detailed commentary. It's priceless!

An onion is known by its layers. I wonder what the next layer looks like. Is it too worthless? or is there a point where, if you peel away enough layers, does the onion still have value. The stems appear to be beautiful, and most people are drawn to their beauty and majesty, especially against a dark background. But the light shines brightly on the onion, which is the "heart" of the vegetable. It is not hard to make the correlation between this onion and the heart of an individual. Each person has multiple layers that shroud their heart, and regardless of how they might appear, you have to remove those layers to reveal what is inside. What may seem worthless and in need of just tossing aside may leave a different impression if you dig far enough. Yuri....thank you for reminding me what life is all about through your work!

Rick, you are too kind.

Yuri, this is a stellar offering on many levels. I admire how effortlessly and successfully you worked the edges. That sprout tip in the upper right, just leaning against the side is perfection! LIKE

Yuri Lev replied:

Marlene, I love it when you comment on my work because you consistently go beyond the common phrases and offer meaningful insight. I'm very grateful. Thank you!

This to me is thrllling, Yuri........I am partial to this palette, and to calligraphic forms, and your 'old' onion is gorgeous in those ways.....compliments, vf.................VIVA

Cool image! Nice treatment.

Yuri Lev replied:

Hi Ronda. It was interesting to discover what an onion really looks like. I think I found it at the back of my refrigerator.

Amarillo, Tx - United States

Well this is neat. The onion looks shriveled but the top seems to be thriving. Makes me wonder what's in the back of my frig...f/l

Interesting subject. I recently found one of those "long haired" onions in my basement :)
