Title
Turnberry Golf Course 9th Tee
Artist
Bill Holkham
Medium
Painting - Watercolor
Description
Two golfers approach the 9Th tee on the world famous Ailsa Course at Turnberry Scotland. The hole is called Bruce's Castle since the ruins can be seen in the background with the famous lighthouse adjoining. This is one of the most photographed holes in golf and is situated atop a cliff top with a 50 feet drop below. Your drive has to carry a gap and then land on a saddle back fairway. As in most of my paintings I wanted to convey a mood. There is the burst of sunlight accentuating the lighthouse structure and the sea crashing on the rocks below. Together with the golfing partners walking to the tee this gives movement to the painting.
Bill has been painting and selling his artworks and prints for over 30 years and they are collected worldwide. Bill is ranked among the best sellers for golf course prints in the various forms, whether on art paper or canvas together with the wide variety of golfing related gifts for the golfing enthusiast. Prints of Bill's golfing paintings are also perfect for prizes such as competitions e.g. Captains Day, Annual Open, Club Championship, Ladies Day, Senior’s and Juniors Championships, Pro-Am etc. You will find a good selection of famous golf courses in his collection on this site and we suggest visit regularly as he is always adding to his portfolio.
