Tulip Bouquet

Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
Someone on Twitter thought it might be interesting to see my take on painting tulips from above so I thought I would take a shot at it. I considered pulling the foliage back a bit more but I liked the end result with the leaves more up front. I exaggerated the size of the tulip flowers themselves in order to help the composition. The original painting is 10"x14" in size and is painted with a combination of Daniel Smith and Sennelier watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.

Wow - This is beautiful! I like the point of view you have in it.
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Lora! I really had to fiddle with the composition a lot in order to make this point of view work. I am pleased with the end result though.

You certainly met the challenge well, Ken! Love this perspective....one that's not often seen. The light & coloring is great, too......a new favorite for me!!!!!!
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Marsha! I really enlarged the tulip flowers to fill the composition with more color and to have less foliage visible. It was tough to get this one laid out that way and still appear believable! LOL
