Mellie Esperson built this building as a memorial to her late husband. The Chase Tower now dwarfs Niels and Mellie Esperson, but when it was built, it was the tallest building in Houston. The sign in the foreground celebrates the upcoming Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, said to be the largest rodeo in the world.
