Thurber Texas was a boom town that mined coal, at it's peak it had a population of around 10,000 people, and one of the biggest coal mines in the U.S. A Mister Gordon found that the area also had a lot of shale rock in the hills and started making bricks, many are used in Fort Worth, Texas for paving roads, but coal was still the main income make. The town began to die off in the 1930 when the trains started using Desile All that is left now are the Smoke Stacks whitch can be seen from interstate 20. There is a restaurant there and 2 homes
