The Yellow Rose Of Texas
Artist
Patrick Anthony Pierson
Medium
Pastel - Oil Pastel On Museum Board
Description
"Oh now I'm going to find her, for my heart is full of woe,
And we'll sing the songs together, that we sung so long ago
We'll play the banjo gaily, and we'll sing the songs of yore,
And the Yellow Rose of Texas shall be mine forevermore."

So beautiful. I have always liked that poem. And you mister are such a great artist. Oil pastel!.....wow.
Patrick Anthony Pierson replied:
I thankee, Ma'am! And yes, 'tis is an oil pastel painting enhanced with Prismacolor oil pencils. To blend the color evenly, I mask the areas around selected color-fields with Friskfilm, cutting along the graphite sketch lines on the museum board with an X-Acto blade, lay in broad strokes of oil pastel, 'paint' the pigment into the board with a rag dampened with a little mineral spirits, then I layer more color on top of the pastel-painted areas - sometimes using my fingertips to push it around and blend it in - and to finish I use Prismacolor oil pencils to draw the details that define the finished piece.
