Face Dances is the ninth studio album by the English rock band The Who. Released in 1981 on Polydor Records in the United Kingdom, it was also released for the first time on Warner Brother Records in the United States. It was also the bands first album release after the death of drummer Keith Moon on September 7, 1978 that introduced Kenny Jones formerly of the Small Faces and the Faces.
Despite mixed reviews the album peaked at #4 on the US Billboard 200 album chart and #2 on the UK chart. It did eventually achieve Platinum status in the US. In 1987 the album was re-released by MCA Records with five bonus tracks bring the total to 14 tracks.
“You Better You Bet” was the first single released from the album. The video made was one of the first played on MTV in 1981 and was the first to be repeated on the channel. A video for MTV was also shot of “Another Tricky Day” which was not released as a single.
